Co-founded in 1978 by Chris Cutler, London-based ReR Megacorp remains a musician-led independent label after almost 40 years. Blithely disregarding market wisdom, it continues to release titles across a wide spectrum of genres.
ReR is home to cult bands This Heat, Henry Cow, Faust, Art Bears, The Necks...
Baltimore Independent Music & Arts Festival is a 3-day, multi venue festival which will take place for the first time on August 26th-28th. 2010, as we bring you three nights of performances from regional and national recording artists, plus special events featuring comedians, visual arts and film, as well as music seminars and a record fair on Saturday August 28th. We anticipate that there will be more than 100 performing bands and DJs playing at 10 different venues in Baltimore. We’re coordinating the venue schedules and we’ve strategically planned the locations to allow fans to hear as many artists as possible between 6PM and 2AM each night.
Participating venues include the Ottobar, Sonar, The Paradox, Bourbon Street, The Windup Space, The Hexagon, Charm City Art Space (CCAS),The G-Spot, The Depot, Red Maple, and others. Unlike some other national festivals, we want to make sure that artists who draw fans make money! We’ve also set up an affordable structure for labels and sponsors doing official festival showcases. The seminars will be held at the Ottobar on Saturday August 28th (1:00PM-7:00PM), with speakers, nationally known artists, & professionals from the music industry, including a music marketplace, with participation from record labels, local record stores, and specialty stores.
The festival organizers are David Andler (Morphius Records, Lord Baltimore Recording) and Lisa Chaplin Suit (Shorty's, BMC), who are planning the event with gracious assistance from various Baltimore independent club owners and other volunteers. Since this festival is for Baltimore, we're anxious to hear input from musicians and artists throughout the city and the community-at-large about what we can do to make this a great annual event for Baltimore and music fans everywhere.
