TEENAGE TEARDROPS: BOUTIQUE VINYL LABEL

Morphius is proud to distribute Teenage Teardrops, a boutique label that specializes in limited-edition vinyl releases. Based in the burgeoning LA scene, from which break-out band Mika Miko hails, the label's first release, a super charged 7" from Arizona noise punks Issei Sagawa, has already sold out! Despite being less than year old, Teenage Teardrops has charmed the likes of ANP Quarterly and The Fader blog, recently garnering feature interviews in both publications. Thankfully we got our hands on their latest releases, both of which are limited to 500 copies. In the wings is a release from No Age and a series of books, including a tome from music writer Jessica Hopper.

Jazz spazz trio and WFMU darlings, Soiled Mattress and the Springs combine freeform flourishes with all the glee and tenderness of Muzak. The audio equivalent of a failing relationship in a Godard film, The Sads is one man who sounds like many: artist/curator, and now musician, Aaron Rose. This debut features six haunting elixirs distilled from well-worn melancholy and the lofi charm of keyboards, guitar and a typewriter beat ala The Tom Tom Club. If that little black storm cloud following you around had a boombox, 'Rough Stab' is what you'd hear.
