CD REPLICATION (AUDIO) & CD ROM REPLICATION

Although many people in the U.S. use the terms interchangeably, CD replication and CD duplication are actually very different processes. MorphiusDisc Mfg offers both. Unlike many other CD duplicators, we will always advise you whether CD replication or CD duplication is the more appropriate method to use. (Please Note: the info on this page applies equally to DVD replication and DVD duplication. The machines we use to duplicate CDs are the same ones we use to duplicate DVDs, and the machines we use to replicate CDs are the same ones we use to replicate DVDs).

CD Replication / DVD Replication
In the CD replication and DVD replication process, discs are pressed using a glass master made with a laser beam recorder (also called an LBR Machine). Once the glass master is made, it gets used to stamp the information onto raw polycarbonate material formed into discs, and then they get trimmed into neat disc shapes. After the discs are made, the artwork gets printed directly onto the surface of the CD / DVD. CD replication and DVD replication result in the type of CD and DVD discs that can be bought in retail stores. MorphiusDisc Mfg prints using both offset and silkscreen printingon our replicated CDs and replicated DVDs.

CD Duplication / DVD Duplication (AKA CD-R Duplication or DVD-R Duplication)
IThe CD duplication (or DVD duplication) process is quite different. In CD duplication, discs are burned using blank CD-R media or DVD-R media. This is essentially the same as the process used by someone sitting at their computer and copying a single CD-R, except we use machines specifically designed to do many of them at a time, and also set up to do quality control on each disc made. After burning each disc, we print directly onto the CD-R and DVD-R media. (Note that many other companies uses a less desirable process that involves printing on a paper label and apply it onto the disc surface of the CD-Rs and DVD-Rs.

Unlike many companies who give their customers duplicated CD-Rs and duplicated DVD-Rs for orders under 500 units, we offer CD replication and DVD replication on all quantities of 300 units or more, and we can even convert a 100 unit order to CD replication or DVD replication for our customers that want to be able to sell their discs in retail channels but don't know if they will need more than 100 units.

For our customers who aren't in a huge rush, we almost always recommend that they order CD replication or DVD replication, unless they are ordering printed media that they want to "burn" the information onto later, or for customers doing quantities of 100 or less who aren't concerned about selling at retail stores or customers doiing 10-500 units who are in a huge hurry. We help many of our customers sell on retail sites (like Amazon.com, Morphius.com, etc). Be aware that most of those sites don't accept duplicated CD-Rs for sale on the site.

For our customers who aren't worried about retail sales, CD duplication can be a fine option, and Morphius goes to great lengths to make sure our CD duplication quality is much higher than the industry standard. We use a sophisticated verification process that ensures our CD-Rs have been duplicated accurately and match the master provided, and we use fade-resistant inks that make our printing a cut above most companies producing printing on duplicated CD and DVD media. We also conduct stress tests on all the CD-R & DVD-R media we use to make sure that the duplicated CDs and DVDs we produce are as close to replicated CDs and DVDs as possible, and resistant to scratching and damage caused by temperature change.
